Four Modes Offer Signature SSL Sound Whether you want clean, transparent compression or an aggressively distorted tone, the Bus+ has a mode for you. Clean mode provides SSL's renowned bus compression effect with a pristine, natural sound. Grit introduces harmonic distortion for an edgy quality. Drive increases the distortion for an saturated, in-your-face tone. Crush maximizes the distortion for an smashed, speaker-shredding effect that is perfect for parallel drum or synth processing. Dynamic Equalizer Shapes the Tone The Bus+ includes an innovative dynamic equalizer that lets you shape the tone with precision. Six bands—low shelf, low-mid bell, mid bell, high-mid bell, high bell and high shelf—cover a wide frequency range. You can apply up to 6dB of cut or boost to each band. The equalizer is dynamic so the amount of EQ is proportional to the signal level. This allows you to, for example, tame resonances that become more prominent as a source gets louder without dulling the tone at lower levels. Transient Expander Adds Punch A built-in transient expander lets you add punch and impact to signals. The expander uses an envelope follower to detect transients in the signal—the fast, high-energy peaks. It can then amplify just the transients for more attack and definition. This is perfect for adding snap to drums, tightening up the low end of a bass or increasing the pick click on a guitar. Combined with the compression and distortion in the Bus+, the transient expander allows for aggressive tonal shaping.
