DetailThe Soldano X88-IR rackmount tube guitar preamp is a modern reimagining of the iconic X88R preamp, known as one of the most sought-after pieces of vintage gear among professional musicians. With its three independent channels—Clean, Crunch and Overdrive—the X88-IR delivers the signature cascading-gain Soldano tone that has defined countless records and live performances. Now, with updated features like impulse response (IR) cabinet simulation, stereo operation and expanded MIDI control, the X88-IR meets the needs of today's players while preserving every ounce of the original's legendary sound. Three Versatile Channels With Modern Enhancements Each channel of the X88-IR is equipped with its own Preamp Level, 3-band EQ and Output Level controls, allowing for precise tone shaping on Clean, Crunch and Overdrive modes. The addition of the Normal/Altered mode on the Clean channel gives players access to traditional Fender-inspired cleans or a boosted clean with added breakup. Channels 2 and 3 can be customized to either Crunch or Overdrive modes, providing an immense range of tonal possibilities that suit everything from blues to high-gain metal. Impulse Response Cabinet Simulation for Direct Recording The X88-IR introduces six onboard impulse response (IR) slots, allowing guitarists to simulate cabinet and mic setups directly from the preamp. Each channel can be assigned its own unique IR, offering unparalleled flexibility for direct recording, live performance or silent practice. With the Soldano Editor Software, you can manage your own IR library, load custom IRs and save up to 128 MIDI presets for seamless integration into any setup. Stereo Operation and Transparent Effects Loop The X88-IR is designed for stereo operation, offering both 1/4" Main Outputs and balanced XLR Outputs with ground lift and level control. A stereo effects loop with a Mono Send and Stereo Return ensures that your pedals and rack effects integrate seamlessly without altering the amp's tone. With the Headphone Output and cab-sim, players can enjoy silent practice while still experiencing studio-grade sound.
