DetailWith the 12-string DX2E, Martin brings their renowned dreadnought body shape and tone to the 12-string world. The DX2E combines vintage looks and modern playability enhancements that make it a 12-string force to be reckoned with. This acoustic-electric guitar carries forward Martin's legacy of impressive projection and bass punch, while adding in the chimey richness that comes with having 12 strings. Its solid spruce top is hand-rubbed to a smooth satin finish and Martin's scalloped X-bracing pattern ensures the top vibrates freely. The Brazilian rosewood-inspired high-pressure laminate back and sides are road-ready so the DX2E can keep up with busy gigging musicians. Shape Notes With a Slimmer Neck and Smoother Radius The DX2E's neck features Martin's Performing Artist profile that's slightly slimmer for comfortable shaping of chords across 12 strings. Its fingerboard has a flatter 16" radius and refined string spacing between the courses. These enhancements create a playing feel familiar to steel-string guitarists. The fingerboard edges are gently beveled too, allowing smooth, unimpeded runs up the neck. The nut width remains 1-7/8", providing adequate room between the six courses. Plug in the Martin E-1 Electronics for Onstage Versatility The built-in Martin E-1 electronics make it easy to plug the DX2E straight into a PA system. It comes equipped with a discreet undersaddle pickup that accurately conveys the guitar's entire tonal range. The onboard preamp has volume, tone and phase controls so you can shape your amplified tone. There's even a chromatic tuner included. Just plug in via the 1/4" output and you're ready to fill the room with your 12-string sound. Travel-Ready HPL Back and Sides The DX2E has high-pressure laminate back and sides in a striking Brazilian rosewood esthetic. The HPL material is crafted to resonate like wood while being more impervious to climate changes and rugged road conditions. Since consistency is key with 12-string guitars, the HPL back and sides maintain their integrity so the DX2E sounds its best every time you uncase it. Experience the 12-String Difference With double the strings comes double the tonal complexity, ringing overtones and harmonic texture. Strumming the DX2E reveals the quintessential 12-string shimmer. The octave courses let single notes stand out while adding airy sustain. When playing chords, you get a kaleidoscope of overtones that elates the ear. It takes finesse to tame a 12-string and Martin gave the DX2E a fast neck and smooth feel to help. The payoff is huge, especially amplified through the E-1 pickup. Grab a Martin DX2E to unlock the 12-string's inspiring voice.
