DetailThe JHS Hard Drive distortion effects pedal provides a fresh approach to achieving high-gain distortion. Designed from scratch by JHS Pedals, the Hard Drive lets you dial in everything from tube amp crunch to a crushing wall of distortion. With controls for volume, mid frequency, drive, bass, midrange and treble, you can shape your tone to cut through any mix. A Modern, Custom Distortion Circuit The Hard Drive is JHS Pedals' first full-blown distortion pedal not based on a previous circuit. Released in 2021, the Hard Drive aims to capture the heavy distortion tones of '90s and 2000s alternative rock. The Hard Drive's circuitry cascades multiple gain stages and a hard limiting circuit, followed by an AB amplifier section with a sweepable midrange EQ. This custom design gives you access to a wide range of high-gain tones from chunky crunch to saturated distortion. A Tribute to a Master Engineer The Hard Drive pedal holds special significance as the final design work of former JHS Pedals engineer Cliff Smith. Smith spent years experimenting to develop the Hard Drive's complex circuitry. The Hard Drive embodies Smith's passion for high-gain tones and making solid-state electronics sound like tube amplifiers. As Smith's last major project before his passing, the Hard Drive is a tribute to his expertise and artistry as an engineer. Shape Your Tone With six controls, the Hard Drive provides flexibility in crafting your tone. The volume control adjusts the overall output level, while the drive control adds more distortion. The bass, midrange and treble controls act as a three-band EQ to adjust the tonal balance. The mid frequency control selects which midrange frequencies are boosted or cut by the midrange control. Using the Hard Drive's controls, you can go from a crunchy overdrive to an blistering distortion that will cut through any mix.
